Ever wanted to head to K'gari (Fraser Island) but had no one to go with? Or been too worried about appearing on 'I got bogged at Inskip Point'?

Motorama have signed on to assist Four Wheel Drive Queensland in their annual K'gari Clean Up event.

The K'gari Clean Up 2024 event is held with Four Wheel Drive Queensland affiliated clubs and is your chance to both explore & help out the island!

Join the 4x4xMORE team for a weekend of adventure where we will explore parts of K'gari, as well as help to clean up & weed this World Heritage Island.

What's the trip plan?

There will be two options for participants to the K'gari Clean up with Motorama 4x4xMORE, to either go over to the island on Friday morning and stay 3 nights or to go over on Saturday morning and stay 2 nights. Either way you'll be escorted from Rainbow Beach to K'gari Beach Resort by professional and experienced 4x4xMORE team leaders.

We'll be nominated a section of beach to clean up on Sunday morning.

Over the weekend, we'll also have the opportunity to explore some of K'gari's amazing sites such as Eli Creek, the Maheno Wreck, Champagne Pools and Indian Head. On Sunday night we'll have an optional group dinner at McKenzie's on 75. A buffet dinner including dessert will be available for $50 per person with payment to be made on the evening.

On Monday, the day is yours to explore the island or head home (check out time is 10.00am). Of course the Motorama 4x4xMORE Team will be by your side with several vehicles and trainers to help out if anything goes wrong. We carry recovery gear, tyre deflators and air compressors.

Costs

Motorama 4x4xMORE has arranged a group discount rate with the K'gari Beach Resort. Accommodation options include standard hotel rooms or self-contained apartments. We encourage you to bring your kids along for the trip.

Extra costs will include a return ticket for the barge from Inskip Point, fuel and any food/drinks yourself. On Sunday night, we invite you to join us for dinner at McKenzie's on 75.

Your National Park Vehicle Permit is included in the price, as is the support of the Motorama 4x4xMORE team throughout the weekend.

How to participate in the K'gari Clean Up 2024 with Motorama 4x4xMORE

This event is unlike our regular Tag-Along Tours as the Clean Up is hosted by Four Wheel Drive Queensland and therefore we have a limited allocation of vehicles assigned to us.

As K'gari is a highly desirable destination, our preference is to make these spaces available to 4x4xMORE newcomers and first-timers to the island. While we still encourage return visitors to register for this event, please be aware that if interest is exceptionally high, bookings for first-timers will be preferenced first.

As we expect this event to be very popular please make sure you only register if you can take the time off and make the payment before April 1st, as we will need to confirm numbers around this date.

Important Information

How much cleaning up is there?

When do we have to pay to secure our spot?

When you receive your payment request, please pay at your earliest possible convenience.

Due to this being a very busy weekend at the K'gari Beach Resort, we need to confirm & pay our accommodation ASAP.

We've been given a limited allocation of vehicles from the 4x4 Queensland Association to ensure we're able to fit within their cap to attend this event.

Cancellations within 30 days of the event aren't refundable and will be fully charged. Cancellations are fully refundable until 5PM, Thursday 18 April 2024. After this date there are various levels of cancellation scenarios to be assessed by Motorama 4x4xMORE.

However, in the case of you or someone within your travelling party test positive or are impacted by COVID (eg. travel restrictions, isolation requirements) within 14 days prior to arrival and cannot attend we request you notify us as soon as possible.

The 4x4xMORE team will make every effort to find replacement for your registration or will issue you a 100% Travel Credit. Please note, verification may need to be provided as evidence of this situation.

What sites are you planning to check out at Fraser Island with Motorama 4x4xMORE?

Pending weather & tides, we plan to visit Eli Creek, Maheno Wreck, Champagne Pools & Indian Head.

K'gari Beach Resort is based at the township of Eurong, which is centrally located to the majority of the southern highlight of K'gari Fraser Island. You'll have the opportunity to visit Lake McKenzie / Central Station on the Monday yourself, or explore Lake Wabby.

Due to the single lane nature of the inland roads any tag-along trips to the interior of K'gari it will at the discretion of trip leaders on the day.

What are the accomodation options?

We will be staying at the K'gari Beach Resort. This is the only accomodation venue of this scale on the eastern coast of K'gari Fraser Island. It is approximately a 40 minute drive from barge drop-off at Hook Point.

The Resort Hotel & King Hotel Room are hotel rooms only.

The 2-bedroom apartment & 2-bedroom King apartment are self-contained options and recommended for families.

What about meals?

You will need to be self sufficient for all meals. McKenzie's on 75 is K'gari Beach Resort's dedicated restaurant and a great option for meals during your stay. Click here to see meal options. Eurong Bakery is also available within walking distance of your accommodation.

You're invited to join us on Sunday evening for a group buffet dinner at McKenzie's on 75 at $50 per person. We encourage you to join us for the group dinner as it is a great opportunity to debrief about the weekend plus there may be a few prizes on offer!
