The Real Great Duck Race Winners

​On October 20, 2013 the iconic Great Brisbane Duck Race, hosted by the PA Research Foundation, saw 35,000 ducks float down the Brisbane River in the name of cancer research. 

The weather was hot, the food vendors were sizzling away and the jumping castles were ready for the influx of families that were here to gather on the edge of the river in hope of their duck crossing the line first. 

The first place finisher of the duck race got to walk away with a $25,000 car from Motorama. Annabelle Young was that lucky first place finisher, and chose a brand new Mitsubishi ASX from Motorama Mitsubishi.

Annabelle had lost her grandfather earlier in the year, and sourced that as motivation to support the duck race and helping the PA Research Foundation in their efforts to find a cure for cancer. More than $300,000 was raised for cancer research projects funded by the Foundation. Motorama not only was the presenting sponsor of the event, but had also set an internal goal of raising $20,000 for the cause.

Whilst the final figure is still being counted, so far the Motorama Family has raised over $25,000. Mark Woelders, CEO of Motorama Group, said that he was proud to have had the entire Motorama family get involved in the fundraising efforts and surpass the fundraising goal.

“We’re extremely proud to be apart of this event. It was great to see so many fun and innovative ways that our staff were able to create to raise money for this great cause.” Mr Woelders said.

Since 2011, Motorama has proudly contributed over $130,000 to the PA Research Foundation and look forward to seeing more great breakthroughs from the PA Research Foundation and its projects.
