Ever wanted to head to Fraser Island but had no one to go with? Or been too worried about appearing on 'I got bogged at Inskip Point'?
Motorama have signed on to assist Four Wheel Drive Queensland in their annual Fraser Island 'K'Gari' Clean Up.
The Fraser Island Clean Up event is held annually over a weekend with Four Wheel Drive Queensland affiliated clubs, and is your chance to both explore & help out the island!
Join the 4x4xMORE team for a weekend of adventure where we will explore parts of Fraser Island, as well as help to clean up & weed this World Heritage Island.
Fraser Island Clean Up | Saturday 22 - Monday 24th May
Where: Fraser Island (K'gari)
When: Saturday 22 - Monday 24 May 2021
Cost: From $419 for two adults, excluding permit, barge and food/drinks
Registration closes on Monday 29 March at 5PM!
This event is a bit different than others as there are very limited spots, and visiting Fraser Island is on the bucket list for a lot of our members.
To participate in the Fraser Island Clean Up, we want you to write (in 100 words or less) why you want to join Motorama 4x4xMORE in exploring & cleaning up Fraser Island.
We'll pick the most original, honest, adventurous and captivating entrees who will be joining us to this World Heritage Island.
As we expect this event to be very popular please make sure you only register if you can take the time off and make the payment before April 3, as we will need to confirm numbers before this date.
We'll meet up on Saturday morning in Gympie, before heading out to the barge at Inskip Point. Driving up the beach, we'll have lunch at Eurong Bakery, where you can also check in at the accomodation.
After lunch we'll likely head to Eli Creek & the Maheno Wreck, where we'll spend the afternoon before heading back to Eurong Resort.
On Sunday, we'll be nominated a section of beach to clean / weed, participating in the clean up from 8.00AM until 12PM. After the clean up, we'll drive to the Champagne Pools / Indian Head for the official 'Clean Up Dinner' at the Cathedrals. After dinner, we'll head back to Eurong Resort for the night.
On Monday, the day is yours to explore the island or head home. Due to the distance we do not recommend a stay of less than 3 days / 2 nights and have sorted accomodation packages accordingly.
Of course the Motorama 4x4xMORE Team will be by your side with several vehicles and trainers to help out if anything goes wrong. We carry recovery gear, tyre deflators and air compressors.
Motorama 4x4xMORE has arranged discounted accomodation at Eurong Resort, starting from $419 for two adults, two nights for a Resort Hotel Room, ranging up to $539 for a King Hotel Room.
If you prefer a self contained apartment, the price is $599 for 2 adults, 2 nights, and a King apartment will be $759.
The apartments are also suitable for up to two children at no extra cost, additional children will be $40 each for the whole stay (with certain limits per room type).
Next to the accomodation, you'll have to pay for the National Parks Vehicle Permit ($55), discounted return barge from Inskip Point ($85), fuel and any food/drinks yourself.
The Clean Up Dinner at Cathedrals on Sunday costs $10 per person.
Included in the price is the support of the Motorama 4x4xMORE Team throughout the weekend.
We are thinking it will be about half a day (Sunday AM). We are yet to be advised the location of our allocated area for clean up.
Due to this being a very busy weekend at the Eurong Beach Resort, we need to confirm & pay our accomodation ASAP.
We also need to confirm our numbers with 4x4 Qld Association to ensure we are able to fit within their cap to attend this event.
Cancellations are fully refundable until Friday 23 April 5pm. After this date there are various levels of cancellation scenarios to be assessed by Motorama 4x4xMORE.
However, in the case of government-mandated travel restrictions (eg. Brisbane lockdown) affecting our ability to travel to Fraser Island for the event, we offer a refund or credit.
Pending weather & tides, we plan to visit Eli Creek, Maheno Wreck, Champagne Pools & Indian Head.
Based at Eurong, you will be well located to drive to Lake McKenzie / Central Station on the Monday yourself, or explore Lake Wabby. Due to the single lane nature of the inland roads, we will not be conducting any tag-along trips to the interior of Fraser Island.
Yes, Fraser Island is a big island and there is lots to see, so you definitely won't cover it all in even three days. Like our other tag-along tours, this is a great way to get a feel for the island & understand how to get here.
We are staying at Eurong Beach Resort, which is enclosed via a dingo proof fence. You will need to take due care outside of the fenced area and follow the Queensland Parks & Wildlife guidelines.
We will be staying at the Eurong Beach Resort. This is the only accomodation venue of this scale on the eastern coast of Fraser Island. It is approximately 40 min drive after arriving on the island via barge from Inskip Point.
The Resort Hotel & King Hotel Room are hotel rooms only.
The 2 bedroom apartment & 2 bedroom King apartment are both self contained, and recommended for families.
Click here to view the room types available.
You will need to be self sufficient for all meals. On the Sunday evening, there is a subsidised meal & entertainment at Cathedrals on Fraser (this is paid for separately) with the other participants in the Clean Up Event.
Outside of that, there are meal options at the Eurong Beach Resort. Please Click here for meal options.
