HSV is back in business, with the performance kings taking their tools to the biggest seller on the Holden floor with the Colorado Sportscat and Sportscat+ by HSV.
We took a closer look at this hot ute.
The latest trend amongst the tight competition of utes is to trick them out with accessories, or even a whole new drivetrain setup to cater to drivers who need a tough, practical and durable work vehicle – but will stand out on site.
In the Holden showroom, that’s the HSV Colorado Sportscat or Colorado Sportscat by HSV to give it its official title.
HSV, for a long time, took Commodore’s to their labs to make mad cars like the Maloo and Clubsport. Now the Colorado has taken over as the big seller in the Holden range, the Holden Special Vehicles team took the big ute to give it a performance treatment.
The engine remains the same – a 2.8-litre turbo diesel – but you can get stronger AP Racing brakes (in the Sportscat+) while both models get a wider stance, upgraded ride height and sports suspension. The top-shelf Sportscat+ can also be optioned with SupaShock suspension – previously available on the hyper, limited edition GTSR W1 models.
The Sportscat is also one of the only ‘hot’ utes available with a manual transmission standard.
The Colorado Sportscat now has a restyled front end to house the HSV badge including LED fog lights, twin recovery points while the Sportscat+ changes the grille again and adds a rear de-coupling anti-rollbar to improve high speed road driving performance (which deactivates when low-range is selected.)
The cabin has been done up with red-stitching on the leather interior, SV Sports seats, but most of it remains the same as what you find in the top Holden Colorado LTZ or Z71 editions.
If you want a Colorado Sportscat by HSV in your driveway, you’ll have to part with $60,790, while the Colorado Sportscat+ starts at $66,790 (both before on road costs) for the manual version of each.
Options for the Sportscat include the automatic transmission (which increases maximum torque to 500Nm from 440Nm in the manual), load rack to increase carrying capacity over the hard tonneau cover, tub liner, eye bolts and Load Master cargo management system.
The Sportscat+ can have the SupaShock suspension upgrade as well as a Sail Plane instead of the sports bar to complement the aggressive wheel arches.
The team at Motorama Holden (Australia’s #1 selling Colorado dealer in 2017) can help get you into the Colorado Sportscat. They are located at either Moorooka or Springwood!
